What is a Pending Order

When viewing the Orders page you may notice some Orders are listed as Pending. This means that the rider pressed the blue Checkout button on the online entry but did not complete payment. They are not currently entered. Generally in this situation the rider has changed their mind and decided they do not wish to enter the event. In some cases though the rider can have become confused during the entry process and may think they have entered the event even though they did not receive a confirmation email and no funds have left their account. Therefore it can be worthwhile to email riders who have a Pending Order to check if they still want to enter the event before entries close before doing that there are two important things to check!

Can a rider be entered and Pending?

Yes, this can happen in two ways.

  1. A rider may be entered on a different order via a different account. For example the rider might start an entry and then when they go to pay find out that their parent already entered them for the event. In these cases we don't need to then email that rider about the Pending Order as they are entered.
  2. An Order may be Pending and also have an amount in the Payments received column. In this case the rider successfully paid and entered the event but at some stage returned to the online entry and began making a change however they never completed the change. The change could be editing an emergency contact, adding an extra horse, scratching from the event etc. The exact change is not displayed however if it had a cost then you will see an asterix next to the cost in the Costs list. In this case we need to send a different email to let the rider know they started making a change but did not finish the change.

How to remove Pending Orders?

Leaving an order in a pending state isn't really an issue however if a rider lets you know they don't want to complete the order you can select the recycle symbol to delete a pending order or the cross to reset a pending change.
