Before the Speed Phase begins you will receive a tablet and a 6 digit PIN which is unique to the event and your role as a 3PE Judge and penciller. Use this PIN to log in. If you need to swap to a different device you can log back in using your PIN.
When you first log in it is possible that no course plans will have been set up yet and the screen will look like this.
To set up a course plan touch the course plans button.
If the Course Designer has already set up the course plans then you can begin 3PE by touching any class name.
This screen shows the current course plans. You can set up a course plan for each level. To create or edit a course plan touch the pencil icon. The time on course can be set to different values for each division on this screen by touching the time on course.
There are 2 steps to setting up a course plan
1. Give the plan a name. It is best to keep it simple and often the level name will suffice.
2. How many obstacles are in the course. Start/Finish are not obstacles
Once you have completed the 2 set up steps you can then touch save to save your course plan and then return to either the plans screen or classes screen.
If multiple levels are using the same course plan you can use copy plans to copy the same plan to the other levels. Do not copy the plan to other classes at the same level! For example do not copy Official Level 4 Plan to the Unofficial Level 4 class. This will create a seprate plan for that class and then the judge will have to judge the classes separately which is not ideal.
Once all of the course plans have been created don't forget to set the time on course for each level.
Once you have set up the course plan you can then select a class from the class screen.
When a rider arrives in the ring you can either select them from the list on the left hand side or enter their number in the box on the top left.
When the rider passes through the start flags you can either touch the Clear or Start button to begin the timer.
When the rider clears an obstacle you can touch the Clear button.
If a rider has a penalty you can touch the penalty button.
If you have made a mistake you can remove marks by touching the recylce symbol next to the mark on the right hand side
Touching the Elimination button will display a list of reasons why the rider was eliminated. Eliminating a rider does not stop the timer by default in case it was a mistake. Note: These reasons will be different based on whether the rider is at the Start, Finish or on Course.
Touching the Retired button will Retire the rider and stop the timer.
When a rider crosses the finish line you can press the Clear button and this will stop the timer. In this case you can see the rider finished the course in 55.37 seconds but had a penalty at obstacle 3. You can alter the recorded time by touching the clipboard icon next to the time.
Once the rider has completed the course you can touch the Sign Off button to upload their results. If you are not ready to Sign Off the rider, (perhaps you need to check with the TD) then you can touch the hold button to Save the results without publishing them.
If you want to start again from scratch you can completely clear the scores by touching the Reset button.
You cannot move on to the next rider until you either Sign Off, Hold or Reset the rider's scores.
If you look at the list of riders on the left side riders who have been Signed Off are highlighted Green while those who have been saved are highlighted Orange. Make sure to go back and Sign Off all riders before the class is completed.
If you are unsure as to whether a rider was clear or have any concerns regarding dangerous riding you can leave a comment by touching the comment button. This will bring up the comment field. You can use your finger to draw the path the rider took and/or swap to text mode by selecting "A" to write a comment. If you want to clear the comment field you can touch the recycle symbol.
Once the class is complete you may want to look at the class results overall. To do this touch the Fence Analysis button. This will show the matrix of riders and penalties at each fence.
Make sure to Sign Off the class before moving to the next class. This will finalise the scores and let the event organisers know this class has been completed and can be presented in 30 minutes
